Oregon Coast Thanksgiving 2015

Another Holiday Weekend on the Pacific
Why not start of the slides with a sea lion from Stan's place. Calm wind allows us to full experience how bad they can smell. Agate Beach was quiet and calm. Yaquina Head and light in the distance. Agate Beach always has interesting wind sculpting. November sunset, the first of six we'd see this trip. Inconceivable! Thanksgiving morning full moon set. Another view as dawn approaches and thoughts turn to pumpkin pie...
I've taken this shot dozens of times, but it's just a spectacular day for late November... so here's another. It's rare to get November morning sunshine to highlight the copper reflector Thanksgiving morning ascent of Salal Hill. Remarkable that we had the entire place to ourselves. Cobble Beach is known for the sound of the wave-tumbled basalt stones. Quarry cove was quiet, but a few seals bottle-nosed and hung out with us. 1st post-Thanksgiving dinner photo at Cape Kiwanda. Too full to lift camera...
Yvonne catches the sunshine in her golden hair as we walk off Thanksgiving dinner... or at least try. Full moon brings very low tides. I ate too much. A trip down to the Hecta Head light. A new spot to frame the scene from the keeper's house. Dropping down off Heceta Head provides a nice view of Heceta Beach near Florence. Shore birds scurry. Western Sandpipers wearing their winter plumage. Yvonne in her favorite place: any beach. Heceta Beach, Florence, OR.
Yaquina Bay Bridge, Newport, OR. Yvonne and I do a long Beverly and Moolack beach walk. Moolack Beach black & white. Another, with more detail of Yaquina Head. Turn-around point at the Beverly Beach campground (under US 101). Afternoons spent out on our deck watching for whales and sea lions.
Bigger surf on our last day, with a stiff easterly wind to whip spray off the waves. Another climb of Salal Hill, looking north toward Moolack and Beverly Beach. The stink eye tells us we've had a nice trip, but "you must go now". Thanks for looking.
